Early Autumn

Just starting to colour up a little now ,but stacks of Autumn crocuses .Two fine days in a row ! that must have been the end of summer ,not to complain NSW has had too much rain and Sth Eastern England not enough !! so we are very fortunate really .

More photos

It has been an incredible season for wild fruit ,the birds are loving it and it could be an indicator of a long winter ! here are some photos of Hawthorn [English May] and Rowan berries ,and a couple from the fern glen . cheers .

Late summer

Greetings from a VERY wet Cambrian Sunday afternoon .I have never felt it so wet here overall ,I think that we have had our annual rainfall already .Not all bad though ,there has been spectacular growth on some trees ,which is a little compensation for the snow damage .The forest is starting to lighten up into it's autumn colours and you will see some Autumn crocuses in the photos .They are about a month early !.
I have had a couple of WWOOFers from France and in spite of the weather we got a lot of work done ,especially some cleaning of the race ,which is always good to get done .
Cambrian [the lad] is about half way through his Outward Bound course ,I imagine that there will have been a fair amount of rain up there .
Two lots of photos today ,one lot just of the fern glen ,the other just general.Another bonus has been the number of elderberrys this year ,the place is covered in them and I have already made 40 litres of wine ,now that IS good news .Cheers all .

Forget February

OK ,I've got over the snowfall ,but it DID take me the whole of February to do it ! The real sun shone again for the first time in ages ,but at least we didn't get the "Weather Bomb" that hit the middle of the country .Cam's at Anakiwa at the moment ,so I hope that it didn't hit him either .WE have had just about our years supply of rain in the first two months ,great for growth on trees ,which are looking pretty good ,but not so good for the psyche,I need that sunshine .Feb was a great month for WWOOFers ,French ,Czech,American and more French ,with German and Danish still to come ,don't let anyone say that life is boring ,even at the end of a gravel road in the backblocks of Central !Nice day today though ,pancakes for breakfast then work on the water race ,brief visit by Anton at lunchtime to excite my French WWOOFer ,Small group of Railtrailers visited and left a lovely bottle of Pinot ,that we had with the trout that the WWOOFer caught yesterday ,before the chocolate banana crumble made by his companion [whew! must work hard tomorrow] Ulf ,Uzumi and Minimi
popped in on their way home to Dunedin to check out Minimi's tree [doing well]+
so all in all a VERY pleasant day ,and we even managed to get a good bit of work done on the race !!
For family : Carla and Gibbo got engaged on Carlas 29th birthday ,Feb 29.
They visited me with Graeme and Ann and Larry ,great to see them all .Enough about here ,always happy to hear from others .Hope that you are just as happy ..Love
