ALL POWER TO THE SUN

It's hard to describe what it's like to wake up to the sun after six days of murk ...but it sure feels good ! .....the place is saturated ,but not flooded ,lots of people are worse off ,particularly on the coast .I'm going to start burning bon-fires tomorrow to warm up the spirit , too much contemplation recently ,not enough action ,so if there is anyone out there who needs a bit of action ,just come on in .

Snowy day

Very cool here today ,but lovely for sitting in front of the fire and reading [lucky that I'm retired eh?],also very quiet after the last 5 days with 3 WWOOFers !Did manage to get down as far as the river to check for flooding .

Weather Bomb

There is a strange law of nature that says that when I get WWOOFers ,it's bound to rain !!!but it doesn't matter ,we had lots of nice conversations and food ,not to mention the drink ! I have declared today the official start of winter ,by the last evening light I could see a smattering of snow across the hills ,it's bound to be a bit closer by morning ,don't think that I'll get out of bed !
It was a particularly busy month for visitors ,and I enjoyed them all ,but it will be nice to have a couple of days off . Cheers

Late Autumn rains

Evening all , there's a strange noise on the roof tonight ,it sounds like rain .Autumns nearly over ,still a few Rowans and larches giving a bit of colour ,but we have been having glorious days . Cams big night tonight ,the opening of the capping show ,two hours of ribald humour !! Can't wait to get there next Monday night .
Now look who I found hiding under my sofa ,must have been there a few days now ,who's missing their favourite cuddly toy ?
Yay,just realized that this rain might spell the end of the fire ban ,and I've got lots of scrub to burn ,but NOT the Matariki bonfire ,that's for Sat 19th June ,one day after Cam's 21st birthday ,and 5 days after Manus 32nd !! so if anyone wants to join us on that night ,you are more than welcome ,wear your woolies though !!!

Camera work

"Evening" I had the courage this morning to put the camera off "auto" and practice with light and speed,it seeems to have worked.
Such a beautiful day in Cambrian today ,even working on a day like today doesn't seem to be work ,took a cycle ride across the river for a cuppa with Graye and Wendy .
Received a most amazing book in the mail today ,courtesy of Karen and Amazon,it's called "Earth From Above 365 days" and is a photo from the air and a description of it for each day of the year ,plus as a bonus "The Neverending Story".Thanks Karen .

End of party

Well I finally feel as though my party is over ,there's no one due in for the next few days ,and by the time the next lot arrive it should be the warm up for the winter solstice !!
I don't want another birthday party until I'm 80 and then we can really celebrate the forest .I've had some beautiful visitors over this last 3 weeks ,we've had loads of laughs ,eaten like kings and still managed to get some work done .
The future is quite exciting ,a friends 50th in Dunedin next w/e ,Cams capping show the w/e after ,and then not long until the aforementioned solstice bon-fire ,open invitation .it's fortunate that I am retired now and can attend to all these things .
Autumns nearly over ,but the place is still quite colourful.
