Dinkum frosts

Evening All, it seems as though the whole country is in a cold spell at the moment ,-5 here last night ,but also in Dunedin and -3 in Auckland ! but lovely day afterwards .I went for a long leisurely walk about noon in the hills opposite the village ,my world looked great .Once back on the Cambrian Rd I spotted two beautiful kingfishers in a poplar tree ,I haven't seen kingfishers for about 5 yrs ,but they are such a beautiful bird .All's quiet in Cambrian at the moment ,but I might have a bon-fire next w/e to celebrate Martariki as I've got my box of fireworks ready and lots of elderberry wine to mull .I heard a good idea last week .Scrap queens birthday w/e .and Guy Fawkes and have a holiday for Martariki with fireworks ,makes sense all round ,but you have to remember to buy your fireworks in Nov. at the moment .Cheers

Trial post

"Evening" Cam's home with me tonight and has revamped the blog ,so this is just a trial run to see what happens ,contrary to what I said way back at the beginning ,if anyone WANTS to make comments ,then they would be appreciated . cheers

First Day of Winter

YEP....this is the first real day of winter ,it started snowing late last night ,just small flakes and ever so quiet ,but by this morning it was a cold blanket of the white stuff ,and not much disappeared today ! right now the temp. is about -3 ,but not a breath of wind ,I love this climate.Went to the neighbours today to check out the transit of Venus ,pretty sure that we saw it ,it's not particularly dramatic ,but it is definitely momentous ,won't happen again for another 100 yrs ! by then I will be too old to cycle around to my neighbours ! The last couple of weeks have been quite quiet  but very productive ,I've finished cleaning the whole of the water-race ,from back fence to McGregors ,no mean feat, and others helped ,but what a great feeling bringing in your own mountain water .Here's some photos from today.
